SEPTEMBER 22, 2009: This month's conventions were a blast! Thanks to everyone who came out and all the nice people I met, hung out with, and tattooed. Next up, I will be participating in a live painting event at a convention in Miami in a few weeks. Come check it out if you're in the area!
This month in my new hometown of Austin, I have some paintings included in an annual juried exhibition of Austin artists. From over 300 entries, only a limited number are chosen, so I'm proud to be included. If you live in this area, feel free to check out the show. The pieces accepted were my recent triptych consisting of "Fight Mechanism," "Truth Revealed," and "Future Dead."
Also this month i'll be at 2 conventions, Hell City (Phoenix) and Paradise Gathering (Mass.). I'm completely booked for both shows but I'll be selling painting books and fine art, participating in forums, and trying to hang out and see my friends from all over, so come say hi.
AUGUST 2009: Just another reminder about my "Healing" art opening and exhibit in Phoenix this friday: if you're in the area come check it out and say hi to Adrian Dominic and I, and see a lot of great art throughout Phoenix for the First Friday event. I just uploaded 7 of the 18 images included in the exhibit to the "film" gallery, with the rest of the images and 3 accompanying essays about the symbolism and purpose of the work to be added later this month.
JULY 2009: A month from now I'll be having a split show with friend and artistic collaborator Adrian Dominic in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. The opening reception will be on Friday, August 7, beginning around 8pm and coinciding with the huge First Friday art walk that the city holds every month. Adrian will be showing a new group of new paintings which I can say are awesome and have some really important symbolism in them for people considering the dilemmas we face in today's world. My part of the show will be a slight departure from my usual: a group of new photographs I've been working on over the past year that deal with the roots of human aggression and suffering, and the process of personal growth and healing from those things. If you're in that area come check it out and say hello to us at the opening!
That's all for now, but more things are in the works... thank you for the interest and support.
JUNE 2009: The Innerstate painting event at Hell City Columbus this past weekend was a great success and an amazing time, huge THANK YOU to everyone--all the awesome artists I met, all the nice people who checked it out and of course to Guy and Michele for organizing the whole thing. You can see my finished painting in my canvas gallery right now. It's actually the 4th in a series of new paintings called 'Rebuilding' that have been consuming most of my time lately, in preparation for a gallery exhibition this coming winter. Stay tuned for another teaser or two in the coming months from that series, as well as announcements about other gallery shows in the works.
This month at Last Rites Gallery in NYC I will have an older painting included in a group show, but unfortunately I will not be able to make it up there for the opening. But if you're in that area check it out!
Lastly for this month, I have some giclee art prints left over from Hell City/Innerstate that didn't sell at the event, so I'm now selling them through mail order. There's only a few of each (I only made 5 prints of each painting), and once they're all gone, they're gone forever as I usually don't re-make prints after making them once. The featured pieces are "Flight Mechanism" ($85), "Desire" ($85), "Welcome Home" ($205), and "Grasping" ($205). The extra $5 on those prices are for the mailing costs. Please email me if you're interested and I'll give you ordering details.
See everyone at the next Hell City, in only 3 months!

My collaborative flash set with Jeff Ensminger, which has been available through www.pulseflash.com, has been an opportunity for me to donate money to various causes that are working toward the welfare of animals, people, and the earth. Every so often, when I get enough money back from its sales, I figure out a place to send that money. Previous donations have been made to animal rights groups, but the latest donation made just this week through the nonprofit www.carbonfund.org, will end up supporting reforestation efforts throughout the world, to try to offset global warming. We also sold the completed original drawings for the flash set recently, and my half of the sale was split between 2 causes. One of them is the local environmental group CT Fund For the Environment, and the other is an organization my friend and tattoo client helps with, called Jungle Friends. This group cares for rescued primates, which includes monkeys saved from testing labs and the ‘entertainment’ industry (www.junglefriends.org).
Lastly, the F.A.Q. section of my website has been updated and revamped to reflect my evolving tattoo appointment policies and difficult scheduling situation. You can get to this part of the site by clicking on the question mark that’s in the lower left corner of every page.
Another reminder: I have a mailing list sign-up in the 'Community' section, for anyone who wants to receive occasional updates about new happenings involving my art and tattooing, including travel appearances.
Thanks for the interest and enjoy.
All artwork and images on this site are property of Nick Baxter or their respective owners. Please ask permission if you'd like to use them in any way. Thanks.

Don't forget about the fine-art oriented flash set, the result of 7 months of collaboration with friend and fellow tattooer Jeff Ensminger. It is being sold exclusively by the very nice people at Pulseflash.com, so please contact them to order a set for yourself. I plan on donating a good portion of my personal profit from the sales of this flash to various worthy radical causes and progressive organizations, so you can feel good about some of your money ending up in the hands of people who are working to make this world a better, healthier place for all. As of March 2007, 2 donations have already been made to deserving causes, the SHAC7 defense fund (www.shac7.com), and Farm Sanctuary (www.farmsanctuary.org).
The advertisement for this project can now be viewed in the "commodity" section of this site, which has finally been updated. You cannot order directly from that page however. You still need to contact the appropriate parties mentioned with each product. Thank you to everyone who has bought the flash set, the collaborative print, or my oil painting booklet!
