Tyler mason makes very nice classic frames. tylermasonart.com some of them can be a bit on the heavy side, but they are perfect for carving.

buzzmachines.net... altho i cant say anything about thier quality because ive never used them..you can get them in a wide variety of materials.

dont overlook spaulding, supremes and stingers are great frames.
you could make a good machine out of most of the other frames but im not a fan of the placement of the hole for the rear binders on the other ones,

you could get the seth ciferi frame from workhorse, the spring deck is over angled tho in my opinion, its good if you like a super long throw.

kaplan...national..but ehh, not my first suggestions.

theres more but thats all i can thing of right now. ill add some more if noone else does later. hope that helps.

Had some real problems with the quality of the Buzzmachines materials. Thought is was me and persisted and the quality was still shit. That was 3, 4 years ago and never bought from them again.

He went on a guest spot to White Horse in the Yukon and guess what, I have relatives there and everybody knows everybody there so your every fart is noticed and remembered! Won't comment further.

Hey Gustav, i figured that much about buzzmachines.. thats why i said what i said. Just judging by the pictures they post it looks like it could be hit or miss.

I bet those iron bulldogs are good tho. ive thought about picking one of those up before.

Funny that, I have one of those somewhere, or maybe I just kicked the thing out of the door in disgust. Heap of shit.

Plus a Jonesey that was even worse, went the same way.

Bought a undrilled, bronze alloy Dietzel frame from Tyler Mason, never used it, bit heavy, but no complaints at all and good service and that was also about 4 years ago and I still have it somewhere.

are spaulding machines still made with malleable steel? some of their newer frames look better.

ive been thinking of picking up a blank and supreme frame just for the hell of it but, i don't know.

hmmm, i guess i'll just have to ask them. not sure if they'll just tell me what i want to hear though.

I purchased some brass Bulldog frames from Buzz and was not all that impressed. The casting had alot of pits and holes. I even sent them to be polished and treated to prevent rust. They are what they are for the price... The screw hole location for the tube vice sucks.

Bought also some Buzzmachine shorty coils. Top was not flat and the thread was not in the middle. Basic stuff you would think. Looking back I am surprised I did not see first off how bad things were. My advice is stay clear there are much better suppliers around.

ive been thinking about this more lately.

a friend of mine did a little experiment and took a supreme frame he got in the early 90's and put on some next gen coils he unwound then rewound a little smaller and armature bar. it lines like crazy. im almost ready to do this myself, but id still like to find a nice iron/steel frame before i do.

i checked out the tyler mason frames. they look nice but i really dont dig on bronze... does anyone sell a nice frame or kit in iron/steel?

id prefer to just get a nice frame, i have an extra machines worth of parts id like to put together. i just bought a soba plowhorse kit, so i think im all set with workhorse next time around. id just really like to find a decent frame to build now.

i guess if all else fails i would grab a pilot frame, but im hard pressed to think there isnt someone out there i could get a nice frame off of... its just such a royal pain in the fucking ass with all these chinese pieces of crap blocking my view of any potential quality ones.

halp!! haha.

hey man, i just noticed the other day that Joey D is selling a frame. Cant go wrong there right.. Its finished and polished but they need to be gun blued/oiled etc, however you want it. 90 bucks i think. He says it can be used for either, i would personally make it a liner.

Your welcome dude :) im always on the lookout for frames. And i agree on tyler masons frames, super clean and well made but i dont like anything that isint iron or steel..

Let me know how you like the frame ! i want to pick one up too but i probally wont, things have been seasonally/economicly slow here.
Ive plowed through a couple thousand bucks in savings ever since summer, not cool. I love this shop tho, its home and its been around a really long time.. I would rather suffer financialy and be happy around good people then whore myself out at a trendy tattoo factory surrounded by douchbags. =)

@anthony, and tony - before you get that I have a much better alternative -(not sayin a frame from joeD is bad @all) I am sure thay are great . I want to direct you to Electric Ink's web site , There is more than one , the N.american one and add paulo fernandos name to the search and get the Electric Ink Brazil web site , Every Machine that Paulo Fernando sells - he also sells the frame for 90$ that is where the N.american site comes into play - send an email to ElectricInk N.america and ask for the frame you like - they are all the classics bull dog(excellent) - I am for getting names Jonsey the Waters style frame Dietzel frame style there is alot more , the capobianco - and jime litwalk Are not availible as far I know , I built on a Bulldog - the thing is rad Paulo pours these frames one piece Very high quality steel - not sure of the carbon number I do know of the best german steel and I would compare it to the low carbon german steel . In addition to the high quality steel I am sure Paulo made the forms for the machines after he tweeked the original Frame geometry I am not a rep for his Co. But I have messed around with tattoo machines since day one and have tried a few of the Co's mentioned - and just wanted yall to know about this little known place to get frames - Like 6 months ago the frames were on the N.american website . If you want a machine that will be as good or better than your the machines you got in your arsenal- I used a pair of coils from Eikon they are on sale right now 17$ .
