swashdrive vs swiss rotary

Posted by Tyrell on 05/17/10

I made up my mind that i would switch to rotarys due to my hand wearing down. I would like to know what do ya think about these two machines. Or if had any experience with these specific ones, for they are freking expensive.

I haven't used a Swashdrive myself but i'm in contact with several tattooists that have and they all had great things to say about the machine. The main things i heard were that they were super smooth running and particularly good for black and grey.

I have never used a Swiss rotary but have been using a swashdrive for several months now. I like it very much, especially to do solid colour work. My tattoos seem to heal a lot faster as well. I tried to do several black and grey pieces with it as well but I wasn't to happy with how my shading looked. Nothing beats my Aaron Cain machine though.

i was looking into getting a stigma bizarre. it seems like there is no seller though in the united states. i think it would be smart for the company to have a re seller in the states. i would love to buy one but it seems like a pain to sign up for there new web site and overseas shipping and everything

swiss rotary is the most powerfull machine in market.
i dont need give, the give i need is catched by the skin himself,or if you like use oring instead paper.
the give in the skin is enough for me,i only have trouble in some bone place
coils is waste of money and a lot of troubles in always been out of tunning during a tattoo with more than 20 minutes

Sounds like you've never owned a decent coil machine then Brian! I tattoo all day everyday and hardly have to touch my machines. They run the same way pretty much every time i pick them up. A lot of guys that have tried the alternatives have gone back to coils after a while. It's their ability to be tuned to the artist style that makes them superior. I know artists that have spent money on a complete rotary or neuma set up and they've still used their coils to line with.

STIGMA rotary

Posted by STIGMA at COLD-SKIN on 05/22/10

COLD-SKIN is shipping the STIGMA rotary - world wide. Very soon there will be also 3 USA based selling points. It is not easy making the registration on our site (you have to invest 2 minutes providing your studio information...) from the simple reason - we would like to know who is requesting (and we will need the inf for being able shiping to you...)!!! We think that such check prevents our products arriving in wrong hands which is actually protecting the real artists/studios from waking up every morning to discover that someone is tattooing on every street corner. The public is not able seeing prices on our site - those are just for the artists (after login) - would you like the public calculating the costs of your instruments/disposables being used for 1 tattoo and then complaining about the tattoo prices??? We are doing this already 15 years on the same way and we have peace with it! At the moment the demand is bigger then the stock and not always UPS is correct with deliveries so it is taking some times few days longer. Amsterdam is also 7-11 hours later then USA time so when you are mailing we are not able answering directly. We are trying our best for giving good and fast service and sometimes we are also making mistakes (missing single email or answering late). Investing those 2 min. for registration will give you the option of owning the most advances rotary machine today! sorry for my English - I am better in Dutch. Check www.coldskin.nl

to madmosher
i have some good name coils,aaron cain,some soba,sun skin
but i dont like them for my needs.
i understand why some tattooists use coils for liners,is just because a line is the most dificult thing to get in the skin,a good line make a lot of damage,is more easy with coils some some sketchy line.
im shure you know what i mean

brian- i have read your last two posts and your saying that your aaron cain, soba, sun skin coil machines are a waste of money and lots of troubles and loose there tune after 20 minutes in a session??? please explain why you are sayin these machines are a waste of money??

what i try to say is that is just the good name coils ive got run decently, the other coils i got is always out of tunning,i wast a lot of money in them.
i found the swiss rotary more consistent, always tunned,no change springs, dont mess contact points
i try the hawk to,but dont like them so much, dont spread enough in the needles, have some give in the needles (no rubber bands so the needles dont fixed so well)
the future is a rotary with a 70% or 80% duty cycle or maybe like traditional japonese technique 100 % duty cycle less pain for everybody

The Swiss is nice, but Stigma Hyper v2 and Stigma Bizarre are way better.

Tho I have to say I can't get on with lining with the Stigma machines. I still use coils for normal line work.
