AL13 new ones from FK Irons. W00T!!!

Posted by Darin on 12/28/08

FK when are this machines coming out?
I just saw the add on your myspace for the AL13.
What is the weight on those aluminum frames? Are you coming out with new models or just a remake of your current line?

Frames will come out soon. I don't have an exact date.
The models will be Exactor, Pyro, Zen and Galaxie.
It's very possible that I will offer anodized frames in different colors.

The frames have an inlaid yoke, giving the whole machine a cleaner appearance.
1.5 perform better than ever with this frame due to the fact that the frame doesn't get magnetized.

Can wait to release them as well.
Keep you all posted.
Here is the Flyer for the ones who haven't seen it.

I can't wait to see this line-up. What colors are you thinking about doing if you do annodized? It says you did re-design the frames a little, did it effect the appearance at all? Keep us posted, and you can go ahead and set aside one of the Pyro frames for me, lol.

Hey

saw teh pic of nick using the 1,5 coil machine and thought f it is possible to build one with the half coil in the bottom insteat in the top as it would be better to hold the ruber.

the half coil is in the back its there because the distance is less as apposed to the front, get a different frame if you dont like how the rubber band holds the zen holds them pretty well centered

Hey Peter, I built a few like that as a matter of fact but it looks weird though since I use t-cap cores.
As a matter of fact the placement of the bottom coil does not affect the rubber band at all. Look at the machine geometry on my site.

I could special build it for you if you like.

It really doesnt matter where the half coil are? I assumed that having the half coil in the rear was what made the whole machine work differently then others. Does each coil create the same magnetic field?? If so is the whole coil and a half thing just really for weight purposes. I dont really understand why you would want the half coil in the front or how the machine would still work as well as they do now.

why you use orings, never saw in ciferri,aaron,soba.....
is for any special thing,or only to get less noise?

Because they use springs that have an extra flap that's bet (bottom spring) that does something similar to the o ring. But the o-ring reduces noise. I also have 4 different type of o rings that I use. O-ring choice is part of my tuning.

i like orings too, seems to give me an extra bog down effect.i learn this with old micky sharpzs
why you use 4 difernt orings,is just to give you diferent spring stiffness,or any other thing?
the way you tunne the machines seems close to the old sharpzs, medium air gap fast/medium speed
dont you use slow and punchy machines for color pack?

Just got mine today and did two tattoos with it. I bought it because my other Galaxie runs so well that I wanted a second for tattoos where I'm using various size mags. I had him set it for a soft shader so i needed to tweak it slightly so that it ran more like my other Galaxie to push color blends. I turned the contact screw in about a half turn and it's running fantastic now. For a 7 mag I was running it at around 4.5-5 volts. Before I tweaked it it started to get warm around 6 volts, but being aluminum the heat dissipates pretty quickly and it's not bad because being so light it doesn't really rest on my hand at all. I really need to put it through a few more tattoos but so far it's running great just like my steel Galaxie.

Ew the new Alum. Galaxie looks kinda cheap. I got mine and i didnt like how it ran compared to the older one. Just got one of the new pulse shaders that I def think will get used more.

So funny "jairtat" because the only aluminum shipped until today was Ryans machine. Non of the other machines have reached destiny yet.
What's the email on the order.......lol

yes that whats semms to me.the way the contact screw hit the spring(way) is not possible with a high compresssion machine, the ft is gonna be crazy
i like a more round contact screw for clean hit in a compresssion machine

The machine was designed to have a perfect flat contact point with the springs. This actually does the opposite of what you are mentioning steve. A pointy or round contact screw will generate more carbon built up because the point is more prone to produce a spark. The spark with carbonize the point. A flat contact produces no spark and almost no carbon build up because a large surface is interacting rather a point.

This also prevent the contact screw from carving the spring with every hit and the contact screw being deformed forcing you to turn it, therefore re-tuning your machine constantly.

Flat contact also has a lot to do with FT 0 as the contact is perfect between both surfaces. A pointy contact will literally be burning at all times changing drastically the surface of the contact screw with every swing.

A lot of research and expensive materials went on this machine to make it light and a great performer. The aluminum frame has an inlaid yoke requiring two pieces/ operations. Also the frame, like all my models is crafted out of one solid piece of aluminum with CNC technology (the most expensive way this days to manufacture a frame) Not exposed yokes that make the frame longer.

The screws of binders and a bar are aircraft aluminum anodized screws. 10 screws cost about what 100 steel screws cost.

The lock nut for the contact screws is also a new component made out of stainless steel and nylon. This is also 10+ times more expensive than a regular brass nut.

Good friends and renown artists have helped me prototype this machine.
I ran 5 prototypes until the vibration was almost gone, to the point that some of the artists say that this aluminum vibrates less than my steel machines.

Take the comment of random posters with absolute care as some people very lightly involved in the industry fell with the right to talk crap over your hard work.

I warranty every machine to the point that if you don't like it I refund your money. I never had a single refund and all of the friends that tested the Galaxie II want to tattoo with just them.

From everything Ive heard from Gaston and the people that do business with him I have no reason to believe that he is not telling the truth, and since I do believe him, that clearly means I believe Jairtat is a liar. To bring that kind of shady underhanded business tactic into this forum to undermine what seems to be a wonderful machine is just so fuckin slimy. Go work for the big three and leave us here in the tattoo world alone. If you are just spoutin off and bein dishonest for no reason other than to be cool and have one of these b4 everyone else then thats just as bad. For the record I dont own a Fallen King Irons machine. I exclusively use machines from Workhorse builders atm.
