Posted by jcolehour on 05/06/10

I am confused browsing I see hurricane power source that looks exactly like the CX 2, whats up with this, it was almost half price= cgi.ebay.com/HURRICANE-DIGITAL-TATTOO-POWER-SUPPLY-NOT-CRITICAL-/170480043756?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b16706ec#ht_1329wt_1167.

Essentially hurricanes are chinese knockoffs. They also have knockoff Eikons...wack

Shame on those chinese companies!
Buy american products, buy once and be done with it. Usually quality comes with a price tag.

I know it is very tempting to buy one of the knockoffs, they usually are way cheaper than the originals. But they are cheaper because the quality is just not there. The real one will last while the other one wont. Spend the extra money. I think Eikon has there name copywrited, so if it says its an Eikon it most likely is. Be carefull though, I've seen technical sharps being sold on ebay as Micky Sharpz and people who don't know the difference pay more than what the machine is worth. It's safer to go directly to the source.

I build power supplies, and Im not the biggest fan of eikon supplies. They are not junk, but they are not the best by far. BUT I have opened them. and all the important parts of the powersuppy are not crazy cheap. Now they are not the most robust versions like I use. but they are not absolute garbage either. now if you open a knockoff, you wont see a part in there that costs more than 50 cents prolly. If you crack open an eikon you will see a 20 dollar 10 turn potentiometer in there.

Stop supporting knock off shit! Period! Take your art a little more serious or make room for people who will. This isn't directed at any one person, but rather, at every person who keeps giving these idiots money and helping them to survive.

Solomon, your comments related to the Eikon power supply are very interesting. I always thought that the quality was really top class in all aspects, as the price is certainly up there.

What are your thought on the quality of the CX-2 and I totally disregard the cheap chinese stuff and certainly never buy anything that even smells like it comes from there.

Thats right ! stupid filthy chinese animals ! i snub my nose in your general direction, just like the rest of these ignorant raceist fucks. I do it and its ok because its the popular opinion of the spoiled white american culture that you bastard ass slaves are ruining our privilaged society. I hereby vow to only buy outragiously overpriced goods made right here in the usa !!!

Outrageously overpriced goods made by people who give a shit about quality and don't make cheap shit that breaks after one use. There's nothing racist about not supporting scam rip off artists.

I agree when your knockoff breaks in a week a month 6 months who are you gonna call nobody your gonna be stuck buying another one when you buy a quality supply it comes with a warranty there's someone on the other end of the phone willing to help you out that's gotta be worth something plus by the time you've bought 2 cheap supplies you could of bought a quality one saved some time and headaches

If you cannot win any other way, the easy way out is to dish out the 'racist' tag. Now THAT is the height of stupidiy.

I was born in Friesland, The Netherlands, and the Friesians are certainly a very proud, Nordic, people. One of my best friends is from Malaita in the Solomon Islands, lives in Auki, and he is extremely proud of his heritage.
We have been together in a few tight spots and If you would talk rubbish like that in myf friend's or my prescence you would certainly be in deep shit.

By the way, there's nothing privileged about coming up with a product on your own and expecting your fellow humans, no matter what race, to not rip off your ideas. If these people making the hurricane have such a great product then why are they so afraid to stand on their own two feet with it? Cause its much easier to make it look exactly like an existing power supply and try to trick unsuspecting people into buying their sad excuse for a quality product. And it happens with machines, artwork, and every other aspect of tattooing. It sucks and its disgusting. I have nothing against the Chinese. That would be insane. The fact is the laws over there do not protect people making things over here. The only way to stop it is to stop buying it. The people putting this crap out there have no moral compass whatsoever, and consequently feel no remorse for just jumping in and trying to ruin the business of hardworking people who do care. Therefore I don't blame the guy who said I'm racist. You're ignorant and probably lack the education to understand why this issue is wrong in the first place. Just because someone has a problem with Chinese knock offs doesn't mean they have a problem with China. My Mexican girlfriend doesn't get all pissed when I don't like huevos rancheros. Gimme a fuckin break.

As far as I am concerned, whoever comes up with the word racist whenever extremely shoddy goods get panned should cop it.

There is no excuse for selling shit stuff and then acting as if you do mankind a favour wherever you come from. It is just that in the tattoo world the chinese junk has an extremely bad name and that is totally earned. Maybe I am a bit more biased because I lived in Honiara for three years. And the Chinese merchants, not all but most, made it so bad that, finally, the whole of China town and just about every chinese shop in town was totally wrecked to the ground in a series of riots.

For the uninitiated, Honiara is the capital of the Solomon Islands situated on the island of Gualdalcanal, well known by Americans because of the ferocious fighting there in WW2. I have been to a lot of places there and also to Kennedy Island, just of Gizo, Western Province, further North.

So if I am sounding off a bit that is why. I am done now.
