yea, u cant go wrong with his pilot shader. You can tune down the volts for a black and Grey machine. i own a few of workhorse irons, especially the soba pilot machine, its a very consistent machine to work with. i believe u can email them (workhorseirons) and tell them your needs. i reckon that be better option.

thanks.

Hey Anthony, i havint used the plowhorse but the geometry looks about the same as the pilot. I imagine the end results of either kit would/could be about the same, i agree the plowhorse looks better. If you decided to alter the frame/finish DO NOT use a belt sander !!! lmao.. =P

to clairify that other post, my main concern is that the dude would have messed up the spring deck, didint mean to sound like i was trying to contradict you hardcore, or be a jerk.

haha it's all good man. probably shouldn't just dive into using a sander for the first time with a frame either. so, point taken.

yeah i like the look of the plow horse a little better. looks like it lends itself to rca a little better than the pilot too. i cant tell from the picture but it doesnt appear to be a cast frame either. wich i like.

i wonder why he just sells that as a kit? not a popular frame?

yea dude, i didint think about that perspective but it does look like the plow horse would be easyer to slap a standard rca coversion on, but idk, could work the same either way.

I say go with your gut, or my gut, which says to give the plow horse a try. Hell, i might too, i havint had a longframed machine in a few years.. In my experience they are generally good for being able to work the skin longer, i always had really easy heals useing long slow machines..turn up the volts for solid saturation. down for blending and greywork. They are as close to a all purpose machine as you get, imo.

Oh, and about selling it as just a kit.... i dont know. he always just sold it as a kit... If i overanalized it i would be afraid that hes selling them as a kit because he wasint fond of tuning them, but i highly doubt that because i think my observation about them being compairable to the pilot is correct.

totally with you on that... i have a nice heavy shader, which works fine, but sometimes its too much. i think im gonna go for it once i get a few extra bucks.

either way, i like that he sells it as a kit. id prefer to get it that way anyway and i really like his style. good shit, good price, some unbuilt if you want. all that and nothing but good reviews to back it all up.

you can't beat that. that's a dude i'll happily fork out some cash for.

ummm. The plowhorse and race horse kits are nothing close to the pilot actually. But they are soooo nice, the race I built for a friend is a screamer and runs like 170 cps unloaded and can push anything. the shaders seem to like to run around 110 to 120 cps depending on how you build em. So they are alot more of an all around frame as opposed to the slow and steady pilots. Workhorse is just down the road from us, and I have all workhorse machines, Im not saying Im an expert, but I love Sobas machines and have quite a bit of exp with them.

I got the Soba Race Horse machine when it was first released. As an avid machine builder/tuner for local artists in San Diego, I got to say that this kit is awesome. The goemetry is perfect, it's set up with medium throw, stats; 150hz, 52%DC, 0ft @5V unloaded. Great kit, sweet deal and a best way to learn/understand what it takes to put a machine together. Don't be fooled, this kit is the sh!t, I'm looking to purchase the Plow Horse next and have it as a BnG machine. I have a Pulse Solution (new vise frame) gutted, all parts replaced with Soba coils, abar and springs after all that, sounds super slap happy. Punches at 99hz, 53%DC, 0ft at 5volts unloaded. Be on the look out, Pulse and Soba have teamed up to release 25 machines to celebrate Pulse's 10yr anniversary, with deal #6. The Soba pilot shader is a long frame geometry, very slow and punchy, I'd get that machine if I didn't already have my Pulse Solution. Bottom line, can't go wrong with a Soba machine. Can't wait for Pulse collab. Soba machines m

So, is the plow horse a long frame ? it looks like it is.

the plowhorse is not really a long frame machine. I consider the pilot or weinerdog longframe designs and the plowhorse is not that stretched out. It takes a normal size armature bar, like I said in the above post, its more of a all around colorpacker shader, that can do black and grey if you need it.
