Posted by travelingtom on 05/27/08

just had a quick question to anybody rockin fk irons, i checked out the site and was wondering what the benefit of a 1.5 coil set up would be. they look like kick ass machines, any feed back would be great.

I am also interested in those machines. One of the guys at the shop has two shaders from Fallen King with 1.5. I had the chance to work the whole day yesterday with them and I must say that I've never seen a machine run so smooth at such a low voltage. I ran my shader pounding color at 4 volts. Unreal.
The machine feels great and it's a bit lighter than any of my machines. They don't heat up. Coils cores are wide similar to Next Gen but a bit smaller.
Shading with them is like painting with airbrush.

I pushed 7 and 15 mags. I'm doing a black and gray piece with them.
I'm ordering a Galaxy this friday. Can't wait.

I have one of FK's old handmade mini-paul rodgers liners and a Galaxy shader with full coils. The liner runs great and is one of my daily drivers and the Galaxy shader is smooth and consistent. He set it up for me with a 20 gauge backspring because I wanted it to run a little on the faster side, but I did swap it for an 18 because the 20 just seemed finicky to me. It is a great machine though. I'm looking into picking up another shorty liner and a machine for b&g from him with 1.5 coils, because people seem to be liking them a lot. He's pretty short and to the point in his emails. Seems to overlook questions sometimes in them, but he's a real nice guy and loves his machines. They run great for me, I'd definitely recommend them.

Just placed my order for 2 more Fallen King machines. I'm ordering a Zen with 1.5 coils and a Pyro liner. Gaston apologized for being a little short in his e-mails to me, I told him it wasn't a big deal, because his business seems to be growing like crazy and I'm sure he's getting a lot of e-mails now. He's a good guy, I'm real psyched to get my new machines now. I love new toys :-)

I purchased a liner and shader from FK as well last night. The guy spent 20 minutes of his time on the phone explaining the advantage of each machine.
They are having a $60 bucks off deal for a set, but you have to call in or email him.
Now I can't wait to play with them.

Been running FKs for a few weeks and love them. I got myself a Galaxie shader and an Exactor liner, bot machines with 1.5 coils. I also order a set 1.5 and A bars from FK to upgrade my other machines.
Totally recommended. Once you go 1.5 you won't go back.
Helpful guy and excellent customer service.

Got my Galaxie today!
I love how this machine runs and look. First time I see a timing spring curved and not straightly bent. I also did my first tattoo with it (small seahorse) It is a whole different world running 1.5 than conventional coils, the ink just goes in with ease.

I've been using Pulse and Next Gen's for years but after using FKI's those are just going to collect dust. FKI's are sick machines.

I got my Pyro and Zen a few days ago. He set up the Pyro for me with standard coils and a real long stroke and it runs perfect for me. He even offered me a little advice on tuning it differently if I saw fit. It's gonna be my daily workhorse now. My other liners are gonna be in the case for a long time, I think. Except maybe the handmade liner I got from him a year ago. He set up the Zen for me with 1.5 coils for b&g shading and I am completely amazed at how low a voltage it runs. It's smooth and hits nice and soft at under 4 volts, which was pretty amazing to me. I'm debating asking him if I can send him back my Galaxie machine I got when they first come out to be set up with the 1.5 coils. Overall, I'm just very impressed by their performance, and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone. Gaston's a pleasure to deal with. I'm just hoping he doesn't come out with any new frame styles or I'll be tempted to pick them up too.

My grey runs at 85-90 where the color machine I tired from one of the coworkers is set to run at 95-100 Htz.
This is loaded with a 49-50 FT.
The guy can set it up to run however you want it. It's all about the tuning.
Easy to talk person. Email him.

Yeah, Gaston set mine up a little faster for me. I have a bit of a faster hand shading it seems, so they work great for me. I think my color machine the Galaxie runs around 105 and the the B&G Zen runs around 100

one guy told me that fallen king machines drag less the skin.in particular the half coil drag even less

is good if is possible to ear fallen king explanation about his, half coil and here machines bring higher duty like 50%. with shaders.

i see this duty withhand made liners but never with shaders

Hey John, in reply to your post:
Yes the FKs do drag less the skin. 1.5 is all I use. Since I introduced the 1.5 several artists including myself have shared the feedback that 1.5 FKs improve heal time by half in some cases.

After research trial and error I managed to come up with these setups that stand out.
I wouldn't like to get into technicalities in this public forum but I'll be glad to answer questions in private via email. (email is on the site)
