next generation machine with 13 mags question

Posted by tromeos on 06/24/08

ok so i have had this Eclipse next generation for about 3 months now, and i bought it mainly to use with 13 mags and up so my question is what do you guys run your NG machines at? right now i'm using an eikon meter and i'm running it at about a 8.5-9 volts and it gets pretty decent results but i know i can see better based on other artists that use it...im just looking for silky smooth transitions...one more thing to add i dont know if it matters but i guess i ride the tube on my mag...should i be riding the mag instead? anyway any help would be appreciated thanx ...:)

whatever is working the best for you. personally i like to ride the tip for big open areas that dont require a lot of precision, bu in a tight spot i will move my tip back a little so i can see better.

i have many next gens and 13 mags are my favorite grouping. i also run them around 9 v. smooth transitions comes with lots of practice and learning to get used to your machines setup. on bigger mags i usually work off of the tube.

i only got the eclipse and i dont know if they run like the orion.
i run mine with a 9 mag at 7 volts in meter.
what´s the speed the orion got out of the box loaded with needle?

they do run the same to me. i run and orion for my 13 mags. om 7-8V. smooth gradations is a matter of technique and not machine. If you know how to do it, you do it with any setup.

Can you guys please proof read your posts before committing to the post? I can't understand half of these posts. It's like we got a bunch of fucking cavemen out there tattooing.

Joshnonas your post is rather retarded than cohesive.
If you don't understand then i would suggest you get familiar with the forum world.
People from all over the world join this board. English is only the primary language of a very few countries. Grow up kid!.
If you are so worry about grammar i would recommend you join Britney Spears forum. I'm sure that kiddy entertainment suits you better.

Unless you rock some white trash redneck animal hunting forum where you'll be surrounded by stupid white people that think that hunting is an american invented sport. Pathetic!

I know this is an old post but could not help but comment...
besides it appears there is not too much activity on the board as of late so I hope those who are here dont mind.

I have a few orions and I love using them... my personal favorite really
as for pushing 13-15s it is a bit more complicated than just the volts on the supply... dan and jason make and tune these machines very well however each artist often makes adjustments for hand speed and personal preference... so the throw, contact screw position ect can play a factor.
I have a ems 400 but had been using the ems 300 so my results are based off that
Photobucket
Photobucket

for larger groups like 13-15 i can vary from 9v-11v+ depending if im trying to get lighter or darker tones or values in the shades or if im trying to work with colors and any amount of blending...
alot of these questions cannot really be answered with a simple number
however if there is any interest I would be more than willing to post about this in greater detail if the interest is there.
hope this helps...
