Surreal Paintings

I enjoy combining classical painting genres and techniques into a modern hybrid of photorealistic precision that often includes macroscapes of internal anatomy, and other elements of the grotesque. These uncomfortable elements attempt to access a primordial emotional space within the viewer, where familiar assumptions about beauty or even reality itself can be questioned. Overlapping layers of imagery, distorted cartoons, and Trompe L’oeil (“fool the eye”) illusions further this conceptual purpose.
